Welcome back, I hope you had an enjoyable and relaxing holiday weekend.

It's the end of the month, always a busy time, but if you have a second make sure you check out what Angelo Mozilo - chairman of Countrywide - had to say this week (article). Whether you agree with him or not, you have to admire the passion he has for this business. Have a great week.

Do Not Call Regulatory Updates

DNC Solution
Kentucky eliminates its state Do Not Call list
On April 5, 2007, Kentucky Governor Ernie Fletcher signed into law HB 430 which effectively eliminates the Kentucky Do Not Call List. Kentucky had already been integrating its DNC list into the National Registry. This legislation means you no longer need to separately purchase Kentucky’s state Do Not Call list, although registration with the state is still required. This change becomes effective on July 3, 2007 which is 90 days from the date of Governor Approval. Provided by DNC Solution

Lawsuits filed alleging Do Not Call list violations in Connecticut

Oregon Seeks Enforcement Of Do Not Call Registry
The Oregon Senate passed legislation that is aimed at closing the gap between state and federal Do Not Call laws that have resulted in little or no enforcement in Oregon at the state level. More than 1.68 million Oregon phone numbers are on the federal Do Not Call Registry. In 2006 there were 15,000 Do Not Call complaints from Oregon residents, up from 5,500 similar complaints in 2004. Oregon Senate Bill 117 seeks to restore enforcement authority. The bills goes to the Oregon House for consideration. Provided by DNC Solution

Wisconsin Proposes To Expand State DNC List To Include Small Business & Cell Phone Numbers
The Wisconsin state legislature is considering expanding its state Do Not Call list to include cell phone numbers and phone numbers from small businesses. The proposed bill would also tighten enforcement of fax solicitations and increase the fine for Do Not Call violations from $100 to up to $10,000. If the Wisconsin bill passes, it would join Colorado and Pennsylvania as the only three states that allow cell phone numbers to be placed on their state Do Not Call lists.
