In the news this week, the overall tone resonates that the industry is continuing to struggle. Defaults in the subprime arena have caused stocks to fall for a third straight session and major companies are posting 3rd quarter losses. While this is just bad news overall, according to the experts, it also serves as the catalyst for fraud. While there is some guilty pleasure reading about the broker who got nabbed, the overall effects of fraud aren't going to help in rebounding from this lull.

So amidst the news I like to find that one silver lining, however small it may be, to keep me going. This week it was the marginal improvement in U.S. housing affordability. Some families are realizing their dream of owning a house (and some brokers are closing some loans).

Have a great day!
